How to Get Rid of Snoring Naturally

Getting rid of snoring naturally is the best way to deal with a snoring problem. And, the surprising thing is that there are a good few ways of achieving this. Here you’ll learn about 5 things you can do to get rid of snoring naturally…

First though, remember that snoring is largely caused by airways that are partially blocked during sleep, usually through relaxed tissue moving into the airways. When this occurs the air has to work harder and move faster through the restricted passage. This causes turbulence which vibrates the loose tissue into making the noises of snoring.

Anyway, here are 5 tips on how to get rid of snoring naturally…

1. Prevent Snoring by a Change of Sleeping Position

Try a change of sleeping position. Many — probably most — snorers sleep on there backs for the greater part of their slumber. But, in this position, your chin can move down and back (gravity!) and partially block your airway.

Try sleeping on your side. To help you do this you can attach a tennis ball to the back of your pyjamas, or if you don’t wear pyjamas, by a belt around your middle. This will help to ‘force you’ onto your side.

Or, if you want, there are devices you can buy that can do the same.

2. Eliminate Snoring by Losing Weight

People who are overweight — and you don’t have to be seriously overweight — have much more flesh around their throat and jowls. And, of course, when you are asleep and all your muscles are completely relaxed, this puts pressure on your airways and restricts them. The result is snoring.

3. A Change of Diet Can Help to Get Rid of Snoring at Night

Sometimes, snoring can be caused by allergies in the throat and nasal passages. And of course we know that some people are susceptible to getting allergies through food.

Food that may fall into this category are; fried foods, baked foods (e.g. pizza), frozen foods, chocolate, chocolate products, and dairy produce. You may wish to experiment by omitting these from your diet.

4. Stop Snoring Naturally by Not Eating Big Meals Before Bed

When you eat a large meal your stomach is full to the brim, so to speak. And this food takes a considerable time to be digested. So that when you go to bed after such a meal the food in your stomach puts a lot of pressure on your diaphragm. This in turn restricts your airways, again causing snoring.

Make sure your last meal is at least 3 1/2 to 4 hours before bedtime.

5. Avoid Alcohol Before Bed to Get Rid of Snoring

Alcohol starts to act as a relaxant after a while, so that when you go to bed after drinking alcohol the muscles and tissue are even more relaxed, resulting in restricted air passages and snoring. Make sure you last drink is at least 4 hours before bed.
